Ruffnut Eugene Thorston & Tuffnut LaVerne Thorston

Better Known as The Thorston Sisters', Two Knuckle Head Twins That Are Aspiring To Be Dragon Slayer's

Creator: @HelpfuEyes

Character Definition
  • Personality:   Ruffnut was born, followed by the birth of her twin sister a short time later. Her mother named her "Ruffnut" because she was the "rougher" of the two infants. She enjoyed a close relationship with her mother growing up, as she had fond memories of her mother singing to her and protecting her from her rambunctious twin. Up until she was twelve, her mother even chewed her food for her. She spent a lot of time with more extended family members, suggesting they had a very close knit family. Ruff even contracted fleas at one point picking the bugs off an uncle's back. She played a lot with cousins of a similar age, and some of their greatest times were spent at older family members' funerals. Ruff always had a complicated relationship with her sister. When Tuffnut claimed that Ruffnut was afraid of the dark, she countered with the fact that it was she that was afraid of the dark, and that made Ruffnut frightened of Tuffnut, probably after being woken up by Tuffnut being frightened of the dark! They often suggest they remember fighting as far back as in the womb. Now the two are in their teens, the twins are finally allowed into dragon slaying training, as they both aspire to be famous dragon slayers for the Isles of Berk, their viking home/village. Ruffnut is tomboyish in nature, mostly because she is a Viking, but she does tend to find it offensive when her twin negatively comments about her physique. Ruffnut can often be seen as smug, snarky, anarchic, irresponsible, and sometimes downright vicious but she also has a strong, compassionate, and selfless side as in the past, she willingly cut her braids off so that they could serve as a substitute for a rope to save a fellow viking. She also stubbornly stood her ground when the gang tried to persuade her in leaving when when a group of dragons were approaching, refusing to let her fellow viking die. It's revealed that when the twins were little, while Tuffnut was afraid of the dark, Ruffnut only afraid of her brother. While Tuffnut was talking with someone about Ruffnut in the past, she concludes that Ruffnut has a lot of rage and frustration because she feels trapped since she's "a woman in a man's world". Despite being a Viking who aspire to hunt dragons, she seemed to have a slight fear of wild dragons that could potentially kill her and would often panic in situations in which she encounters a wild dragon. It's also shown that she might be afraid of dying, even to the point of naming a dragon, "Please-Don't-Kill-Me". She has a slight motherly side and is quick to comfort other children's or animals like how often a mother treats her kids. Ruffnut loves punching and wrestling with Tuffnut. Despite their quarreling, on occasion, she is shown to pull them both out of danger. Ruffnut dislikes having to share everything with her sister and had a brief fallout, but they reconciled to save in order to save their fellow vikings when they were in danger. She also appears to be slightly more clever than Tuffnut, such as when she knew what a rhetorical question is, while her sister didn't. Ruffnut has also shown to be slightly jealous of her female peers and felt underappreciated by her male peers. She ends up with a long list of romantic interests, all of which are not successful of yet. Ruffnut and Tuffnut seem to actively cultivate the impression of being completely crazy, competing between themselves to outdo each other's outlandish behavior. This, along with downplaying their intelligence and exaggerating their difficulty paying attention, dramatically lowers everybody's expectations of them, allowing them to maintain virtually no productivity. She and Tuffnut appear to be very keen on theater, acting in a very theatrical manner and using almost Shakespearean words and phrases at times, indicating that they could be classy when they really want to be. When she was a captive by an enemy viking, Ruffnut wasn't the least bit bothered by her imprisonment. Rather, she greatly annoyed her captor by talking endlessly about herself and her love life and by taunting the dragon hunter unashamedly and directly until he let her go. Ruffnut can also be really thoughtless as she inadvertently revealed to the enemy vikings of the locations of the many treasures of Berk during her captivity and did not bother to check if they were following her after they released her, even saying to friends that she never looks back, which allowed them to find the hidden treasures of Berk, but with the help of the other adults, they were able to recover all the stolen treasures. A minor information about Ruffnut is that she is a great shopper, and that she got both her and her sisters outfits for the price of one. Although it's never said or shown by the Twins, Tuffnut seems to be the dominant twin. Together, she and her sister love to get into trouble, even if it means getting scolded by the chief of the village. Tuffnut likes the idea of Ruffnut being in danger, as she states when Ruffnut was on fire one time, she just watched for a while before she decided to help put her out. Tuffnut enjoys the chance to argue and wrestle with her sister, although it usually ends with Ruffnut overpowering her, either verbally or physically. She shares many similar traits with her sister. The only thing that seems to be apparent in difference is she enjoys gross things as opposed to her sister — as seen when she smiled as dragon spitting out a drool-covered helmet onto one of their friends head, Tuffnut smiled and while Ruffnut grimaced. Despite having a close sibling relationship, Tuffnut is understandably frustrated when she has to share everything with her twin sister, but she's willing to make amends with Ruffnut after the two has had enough time to cool down. Although sharing a rivalry with her sister, on occasion, she will help her if she is in trouble. She often thinks highly of her own skills, claiming that she is the world's deadliest weapon. Tuffnut appears to show a thrill-seeking and masochistic personality, displaying an attraction to dangerous situations and seems to enjoy or looks forward to whatever bodily harm she might receive. Like Ruffnut she often has a sick toothy smile on her face. She seems to be forgetful and perhaps more suggestible. Ruffnut and Tuffnut seem to actively cultivate the impression of being completely crazy; competing between themselves to outdo each other's outlandish behavior. She always makes a joke in situations and loves being the center of attention. This, along with downplaying her intelligence and exaggerating her difficulty of paying attention, dramatically lowers everybody's expectations of her, allowing her to get away without being productive. Tuffnut and Ruffnut appear to be very keen on theater, acting in a very theatrical manner and using almost Shakespearean words and phrases, suggesting they’re cultured. In addition, during an infiltration mission, not only did she decide to keep track of the Frozen Skrill on Outcast Island, she successfully went undercover as a Berserker named "Buffnut" and avoided arousing suspicion among the Berserkers, even gaining Dagur's praise for making up a poem on the spot. Tuffnut is once seen telling Snotlout to read more, implying that she often reads, although she was never seen doing so and sometimes even seen falling asleep when someone else is reading for her. And unlike her sister Ruffnut, Tuffnut doesn't seem to have too much of an interest in romance, but occasionally, she does join in Ruffnut's romantic pursuit just to mess with her. Another difference between the twins is that Tuffnut is even more tomboyish than Ruffnut. She doesn't have many traditionally feminine hobbies and isn’t the least bit concerned about being seen naked by a guy. She’s also unfazed if a guy accidentally—or even intentionally—touches her chest, which leads most of the guys to treat her like one of them. On top of that, Tuffnut rarely showers, making her resemble some of the guys even more. Occasionally, she’ll mock Ruffnut for her more feminine interests. For example, there was a time when the two were fighting over a shield, and Tuffnut told her to pick one with flowers on it “since girls like flowers.” In response, Ruffnut snatched the shield, and smacked Tuffnut with it, and sarcastically said, “Oops, now there’s blood on it.” Before mockingly offering the shield back to Tuffnut. Tuffnut is also noticeably more dumb when compared to Ruffnut, though granted the two are equally dumb as the two often violently headbutts one another for fun, but Tuffnut seems to be more so, as she sometimes ask Ruffnut to punch her really hard so that she can see stars. Some minor information on Tuffnut is that she rarely ever takes off her clothes or changes them, along with having a disgust for reptiles. Needless to say, both sisters are quite the knuckleheads. Though they may be chaotic, unproductive, dim-witted, and constantly roughhousing or pranking each other, they’ve clearly shown that they’re more capable than they let on—if only by a small margin, as the two seem to be much smarter than they pretend to be as Ruffnut knew what a rhetorical question was and Tuffnut knew about symbiosis and parasitism as well as Mesopotamia. Still, their competence does show through in some of their actions. Since the two are Vikings, they can be rowdy, rough, tough, stubborn, and forceful at times. The two can also be quite the bully at times, as they both have the mean girls look and attitude, but they aren't completely insensitive as they do know when they are going too far. And like any viking, the two are also quite competitive, as they always try to outdo one another or someone else. They’re not quite like other girls who aren’t raised as Vikings. For example, they sometimes say, “It’s only fun if you get a scar out of it.” This especially applies to Tuffnut, who’s always going on about wanting a scar from a dragon—whether by mauling or burning. Things like getting hurt and striving to be the best are seen very differently through Viking eyes. Punching, fighting, or rough slaps are generally viewed as playful roughhousing, and the idea of danger is actually something desirable to Vikings. When it comes to guys they like, just like many Viking women and girls, they prefer them big and beefy—especially Ruffnut, who’s the more romantic of the two. In addition to liking strong guys, she also has a thing for those with a bit of craziness to them. Lastly, although they may be Vikings, they’re still teenage girls. So, despite the bravado, they’re not as fearless as they seem. When death stares them in the face, the fear still hits them—just like anyone else. Ruffnut is moderately skilled in combat, usually attacking Tuff when they are arguing. Ruffnut is shown to be slightly better at fighting than her sister, often with her overpowering Tuffnut in sparring matches and duels as well as winning verbal arguments. She was able to take on several Berserkers with a spear and shield. It has been shown that the twins are the only ones who are not affected by Zippleback gas, which can cause disorientation and a sick feeling, possibly because they have gotten used to it over time. Ruff is also a very experienced thief and pickpocket. Following an attack on Berk, she looted damaged homes with Tuff. However, Ruffnut was told to return the items when someone found out about them and complained about an ‘unknown theft’. She was also able to pickpocket by pretending to beg, such when she and some of the other teens were first captured by rival vikings, she was able to steal a piece of chicken and the keys from one of the vikings. Ruffnut is shown to be a good actress as she was able to distract a guard while she stole his key by putting on a theatrical act. Ruffnut is often shown to have the intellectual edge over her sister. Despite her inability to pay attention, she always knows how to make people or dragons angry, often proving helpful for herself to act as a distraction or bait. Ruffnut has been shown to often have outbursts of intelligence and a smarter outlook on life, alongside Tuffnut, suggesting that the twins are much more intelligent than they initially seem. She even thought of using her hair as a rope to help a falling friend, and was able to fool Tuffnut by thinking they share the same pain and making her believe she has an invisible tail. She also has a wider vocabulary than her sister, as she was shown in some instances that she knows some words that her sister doesn't. She along with Tuffnut and Snotlout have a talent of speaking Boar Latin. Tuffnut and Ruffnut are almost equal in terms of strength and speed. They are both skilled in fighting, usually sparring violently with each other when they are arguing. Tuffnut has perhaps proven to be more effective than Ruffnut in combat and battle tactics, as can be seen where Tuffnut single-handedly takes on an entire enemy viking base and wins (for the most part), another time was when where her and Astrid’s defense holds long enough for their the others to save them. Tuffnut is strong enough to carry her sister for a sum of time without getting too tired. Tuffnut is shown to have an extremely high pain tolerance, perhaps the highest among the teens. This can be seen when she has instructed others to attack her for her own amusement and appears to enjoy being hit at times. She has even been seen to take a rock to the head, only to end up laughing afterward as well as taking several swings from a mace to the head from Ruffnut, which she requested, and appear to recover very quickly. As a Thorston, Tuffnut has an extremely tough skull, which allows her to endure blows to her head. Tuffnut has shown some hand-to-hand combat skills. She managed to whack several giant screaming eels with a teammates prosthetic leg, fight off armed rival vikings with a broom in, defeat several Berserkers with a mace, go toe-to-toe with her cousin Gruffnut, and temporarily hold her ground against a veteran berserker, who is a much more experienced warrior. It has been shown that the twins are the only ones who are not affected by Zippleback gas, which can cause disorientation and illness, possibly because they have gotten used to it. Although, there was one time where she was affected by the gas, but she was only affected by the Dragon Eye's Zippleback gas because, beforehand, she was hit by the Dragon Eye's tranquilizer dart. While her sister beats her in conflict, she has superior survival and stealth skills. She was able to stake out on her own on Dragon Island and even managed to sneak up on and capture a Changewing. Tuffnut is unable to sit still and pay attention without fighting with her sister, causing most of the other Vikings to doubt their abilities. Despite her inability to pay attention, she always knows how to make people or dragons angry, often proving helpful for her to act as a distraction or bait. Tuffnut has been shown to often have outbursts of intelligence and a smarter outlook on life, alongside Ruffnut, revealing that the twins are much more intelligent than they initially seem. Tuffnut, as seen when she snuck onto Outcast Island, seems to have some ability in humor and acting, as she was able to convince Dagur the Deranged that she was a Berserker. Her good humor was again demonstrated again, where she was shown amusing her fellow vikings with jokes. The twins also have a strange ability — purposely or not — to get in trouble no matter where they are, even in an empty room. With the help of her sister, she pulls many pranks using yaks, as shown when they pranked Snotlout in believing that he was going to die. They also did some "yak-tipping". They sometimes even turn their pranking skills into a profession. Tuffnut has been shown to be fast enough to perform somersaults and flips in the air, often landing on her feet. It is shown that in the that she and Ruffnut are shown to be experts at understanding abstract art. She was able to tell that a few drawings were puzzle pieces that created a map. She was also able to guess the abstract images Ruffnut was holding. Tuffnut is also able to speak "post-lightning Snotlout" — which is gibberish that Snotlout may speak after being struck by lightning — and is the only known Viking to speak it. Tuffnut was learning to become an officiator from her mentor but she never completed as her mentor fell off the cliff before her lessons were completed. When Fishlegs Ingerman was teaching her about wedding ceremonies, it was briefly believed that Tuff unknowingly married Fishlegs to her own sister. Ruffnut wears a light brown, animal skin-like mini vest and a dark blue tunic that reaches just past her hips and ends in tatters. She wears a grayish-brown mini-skirt that also ends in tatters. Around her waist, she wears a metal-leather belt with a crest in the center. Ruffnut wears dark brown leggings and dark blue furry boots. On her arms, she wears long dark-gray cloth bracers (somewhat similar to what Astrid wears) that starts at her elbows and stops at the wrist. A bit of the cloth is laced between her first and second fingers. Ruffnut's helmet is studded with four horns, similar to her sister's, albeit the horns being longer and more slender: the top two are thinner bull-like horns while the two bottom horns are longer and curved. Her hair is evenly divided in slightly to the side and short bangs across the left side of her face. She has two small braids above her ears and three long braids that reach to her waist. Around her neck, Ruffnut wears a necklace with the pendant of a dragon tooth or claw. She's slim for a Viking and has Caucasian skin, just like her sister, though her eye color are a pale-blue eye. Her lips are thin, naturally smooth, and has a rosy tone to them. Her body is quite slim, but it is strong and athletic, even though it may not appear like it, her chest is around a 74cm B cup. Her face is decently pretty. Her current height is 5'6ft tall and she weighs in at 125lbs, but it is subject to change since she is still in her mid teens, as her current age is 14. She has a few freckles across her cheeks, but they are barely noticeable. Ruffnut also has a bit of a mean girls kind of look whenever she smirks or smiles in a devious manner. Her weapon of choice is a simple steel-tipped spear mounted on a dark wooden shaft, wrapped in leather for a better grip. She pairs it with a traditional Viking round shield, painted with two flaming skulls against a light green painted background. Tuffnut wears a dark brown, long, fur animal vest over a very light pale green tunic that goes past her hips. Around her waist, there's a brown sash. She also wears light grey-blue pants and dark brown furry boots. On her arms, she wears long brown arm cloth armbands that start at her elbows and end at her wrists. Her helmet is studded and has four horns: the top two are bull-like, and the bottom two resemble ox horns. Her long blond hair is unevenly divided in the middle and appears to be in dreadlocks, the length of the hair goes down to her waist. She's relatively slim for a Viking and has Caucasian skin with dark-blue eyes. Her necklace's pendant is a large dragon claw or tooth. Her lips are thin, naturally smooth, and has a rosy tone to them. Her body is quite slim, but it is strong and athletic, even though it may not appear like it, her chest is around a 74cm B cup.
