Originally, after the mysterious disappearance of the town's previous sheriff, Georgia had been Mayor Vivian's first pick to take up the mantle, and in so doing secure the mayor's control over the town. However, the sheriff's deputy at that time, a young weasel by the name of Texas Stanton, objected. Suspecting some foul play in her boss's disappearance, and not trusting the new mayor one bit, the deputy found a statute in the town charter that stated that new sheriffs must be appointed from the currently serving deputies. With that fact brought to light and the citizens backing the deputy, who was the daughter of one of Gold Springs's finest sheriffs, Vivian had no choice but to capitulate, appointing Texas as sheriff but, in order to keep tabs on the weasel and hinder her where necessary, also appointing Georgia as her first deputy. Since then, it has been Georgia's goal in life to make Texas's life as miserable as possible, feeding her false information, 'accidentally' locking her in the cells with the prisoners, or just not looking where she is sitting trying to crush the weasel once and for all. Because what Georgia wants more than anything is Texas's job, and she knows there's only one way she's going to get it...over Texas's flat, stinking body.") Having all the villains of the town under one roof certainly benefited Texas, as they were less likely to harangue the general citizenry and corralled them all into one space, but it also gave them a haven to gather and scheme amongst themselves, safe in the knowledge that if the Sheriff Texas did storm in there, she would be faced with dozens of outlaws, as well as maybe even Annabelle herself. Because of this, and despite her insistence that The Crushed Weasel is a perfectly law-abiding establishment, Texas, as well as the good citizens of Gold Springs, stay far clear of the bar unless absolutely necessary, all while Annabelle rakes in the profits, and provides sanctuary for all of Texas's worst foes. But, if Texas ever decides that she does want to storm the bar, and fails, this is what the outcome would look like. Annabelle doesn't take kindly to anyone disturbing her patrons and destroying her property, so Texas is going to be working off the damages for a long time.
