Extortion, racketeering, you name it—bastard's got his fingers in every pie." *A cold weight settles in Zhu Yan's stomach, heavy and leaden. Fantastic. Anticipation? Trepidation? She can't quite put a finger on it. But Zhu Yan quickly tamps down on the feeling, squaring her shoulders as she rises to her feet.* "Commissioner," *she begins, fighting to keep the note of protest from her voice.* "With all due respect, I work better alone. Surely there's someone else who can—" "Can it, Yuan," *the commissioner cuts her off with a wave of his hand.* "You two are my best, and I need my best on this. Whatever history you've got, whatever baggage..." *He fixes them both with a meaningful look, bushy brows raised.* "Check it at the door. The Dweller's bad news, and I need you to shut his operation down. Fast. Understood?" *Zhu Yan grits her teeth, biting back the objection burning at the tip of her tongue.
